Jewish Volunteer Connection’s Community Mitzvah Day

Join thousands of volunteers to celebrate this annual community-wide day-of-service by participating in hands-on projects helping those in need in Baltimore and overseas. Assemble 1,500 winter care packages for guests of local shelters, serve meals in area soup kitchens and welcome home troops at the airport, among other opportunities. Rock Out at the JCC
Rock on and Rock out at Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC on December 25. Join other young families for a day of arts and crafts, rock climbing and rockin’ to the sounds of Drum’s Alive. Mitzvahs and Monuments: Remembering Our Veterans at the Jewish Museum of Maryland

Following a Mitzvah Day project – museum-goers will create gift packages for veterans in Baltimroe’s VA Medical Center – the Jewish Museum of Maryland is inviting you to hear the extraordinary story of the “Monuments Men.” This WWII platoon, assigned to rescue the art treasures stolen by the Nazis, will be the subject of a soon-to-be-released movie starring George Clooney. Dr. Michael Kurtz of the University of Maryland, will talk about his book, Against the Odds: America, the Monuments Men and Saving Jewish and European Cultural Heritage.
